Many of y’all have Windows 8 but have Mac Airports as your routers. What is not so easy is getting your Windows 8 to work with a Bonjour network discovery. So how to install Bonjour easily.
- This assumes a 64 bit computer, so adjust for 32 bit as need be.
- First off, DO NOT DOWNLOAD Bonjour from some joint with domain updatestar.com or any other non-Apple source. Very risky. Do so and you will suffer.
- Download AND DO NOT INSTALL (do NOT install) iTunes from Apple.
- Why not install. Well, unless you want evil iTunes. Up to you. Just if you do install iTunes, make sure Bonjour is part of the install. I cannot say if it will ask or have a check box or will install by default. But from here on the instructions are if you are NOT installing iTunes.
- Download and install 7Zip from here http://www.7-zip.org/
- Make a temporary directory and copy the iTunes64Setup.exe into it (optional, but advisable)
- Using 7Zip, open the iTunes64Setup.exe and EXTRACT it. Double clicking it will place you into the iTunes installer.
- Open your file browser and navigate to where you extracted.
- Example: Downloads/temp/iTunes64Setup and look for Bonjour64.msi
- Double click that and only Bonjour will be installed
- I suppose you can restart for good WinBlows measure.
